Over the years, shooters have awarded Presidents of the United States a somewhat unusual honor – Gun Salesman of the Year. Barack Obama earned it during his terms because he kept trying to threaten us with takeaways and other anti-gun policies the whole time he was in office. He got a few changes through in some states due to his ideology, but didn’t seem to really make a dent in overall gun rights nationwide.
Donald Trump hit the scene and worked hard to Make America Great Again. Second Amendment supporters were applauded, rather than vilified, and buying guns became an acceptable activity in the mainstream population again. He became Gun Salesman of the Year because he was a strong advocate for gun rights.
Then along came Joe Biden. From the outset, as he campaigned against President Trump, until the time he was elected he promised a nationwide loss of gun rights, even trying to outlaw bump stocks, large magazines, gun show purchases, “black” rifles, and more. Quickly taking the title away from Trump, he continued promising heinous penalties and confiscations as Americans responded with record gun purchases, even during the two-year Covid Pandemic.
Now, a new leader has taken the crown from Biden. Vlad Putin, with his recent attack on Ukraine, has set a new standard for normal people feeling they need a firearm “just in case” they might have to protect themselves. As Ukrainians slow down and fight off the much-larger and much-stronger Russian Army, the entire WORLD is seeing that being disarmed can be a problem for them. Even as the Ukrainian government is handing out AK-47s and providing basic training to anyone who wants to stay and fight the Russians, record gun purchases are being made outside the U.S.
