A new report by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) found a 269% increase in economic impact from the firearms industry between 2008, and 2021. Gun manufacturers, their suppliers, and related businesses added 33,000 jobs in 2021, generating over $70.5 billion in economic activity.
Gun and ammo manufacturers, wholesalers, and deals employed 169,523 people in 2021, with another 85,188 working for suppliers and 121,108 working in ancillary industries.
Texas, California, and Florida were the top states for jobs and economic impact. Wyoming, New Jersey, and New Hampshire had the largest number of new jobs in the industry. Jobs, wages, and economic impact took off in 2019 and accelerated through 2021.
